July 2020

This year we have decided to communicate to our friends and family in the format of a small news letter. We hope to share something of the wonderful place we have found, and warm you up to pay us a visit in the future if you ever feel like it.

So. 7 Months after leaving Puyuelo we finally managed to return. Fortunately, apart from some mice traces, we found everything exactly as we left it in October. James and Pablo arrived 1 week before Felix and Moritz, and used that time to build up a base camp for this summer. A good shelter while we work on the renovation of our first house.

Seeking shelter during the Siesta, a national obligation in Spain

As soon as Moritz and Felix joined the team, we started working on our first projects. First of all, we aim for installing some basic infrastructure; a toilet, showers, a sink for the dishes, etcetera. Once we have those basic luxuries, it will be way more comfortable to continue working.

Next Monday, a truck arrives with 1,6 kilometers of tubes, which will bring down water from the river above us from the village. Once that is done, we can take on the vegetable garden and the renovation of our first house.

On Monday, we had a surprise visit by Don Ramon, 85 year old original inhabitant of Puyuelo. He passes by regularly to leave flowers on his sister’s grave (next to Puyuelo’s church), and is very happy to see his birth village revive.

The place we prepared for the vegetable garden, was found as an explosion of plants. Soon we hope to plant the first things

That’s that. Warm greetings from our small strip of paradise. We wish you all the best and a great summer.

Big hug,
James, Felix, Moritz and Pablo
