The Garden House

The first years (2021-2022)

Work began in 2021 when we cleaned out what this utter ruin and set out to what other inhabitants of our valley called “the most ambitious construction project here in many decades”. They thought we were nuts, we thought they were exaggerating – but they had a point, as we came to understand some months in. Nevertheless, after two years of hard work, the house was basically restored and ready to be lived in (Puyuelo style)

The second phase (2023-2024)

From 2023 on with the basic structure intact, the inside of the house got more attention. Walls were plastered, a bed installed, tiles layed, and a new windows added. And – nomen est omen – the garden in front of the house was brought to life. With nice shaded spaces still being rare in Puyuelo (and comfortable furniture even more so), the terrace in the garden became a treasured meeting spot as soon as it was completed
